Do let me tell you about my new mania and the project it has inspired!
Have you ever heard of Webtoon? It is a website (and app) that allows people to publish and read webcomics for free. There are artist and authors from all over the world sharing their stories and talent.
For those who do not know, a webcomic is a comic that is published on a website or app. They may be available in traditional publication formats as well, but primarily they are on the web, hence the term.
I cannot remember when or how I discovered Webtoon, but I have accomplished very little in my life since that moment. I have spent a great deal of my free time reading the latest episodes of my favorite series or binge reading the available episodes of new discoveries. As is usual in the comic world, the stories are told in serial form so each installment ends in a cliffhanger. Many readers have commented that this should be illegal. I often agree with this sentiment.
Having used the recent months of my earthly time allotment reading webcomics, I find myself inspired to contribute to the world that has been so welcoming and provided hours of entertainment. I also do not have enough projects in various stages of “in progress” so I am adding a new one! I have never created a comic before, but many of the Webtoon creators have said the same thing and I have loved the work they have done. It is exciting to see the story growth as well as the talent growth. I figure, if “they” can do it, so can I!
I will document this new mania of mine with the hope that it will be entertaining for you, my dear readers, and motivational for me. If there are people keeping tabs on my progress then I will be far more inclined to keep the project going. Motivation is difficult to maintain when you are the only one who cares.
I also hope that as you follow my process and progress, you might find inspiration of your own. It has taken me far too many years of my life to learn that anything I want to do is worth something. It may only be worth the knowledge that I never want to do whatever it is again, but I will never know that unless I try it first. Contrary-wise, I might suddenly find the very thing I was meant to do or be. In the meantime, I will collect data and specimens and memories and skills and knowledge that will serve me for the rest of my life.
I will conclude today’s visit with some brief information about my webcomic. The title will be “Miranda Writes.” The main character, Miranda, is a crime journalist and that is all I am willing to share for now. After all, spoilers!
